William J. Shaw

Executive Experience:  William J. (Bill) Shaw was the Vice Chairman of Marriott International, Inc. until his retirement in March 211. Prior to becoming vice chairman, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Marriott from 1997 until 29. Bill joined Marriott in 1974 and held various positions, including Corporate Controller, Corporate Vice President, Senior Vice President – Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President, and President Marriott service group. Prior to joining Marriott, Bill worked at Arthur Andersen & Co.

Additional information: Bill serves on the board of trustees of three funds in the American Family of mutual funds, the board of directors of Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, the board of directors of the United Negro College Fund and the board of trustees of the University of Notre Dame.

Bill is the chairman of the audit committee for the University of Notre Dame. He also serves on the audit committees for the United Negro College Fund and the three funds of the American Family of mutual funds.

Bill graduated from the University of Notre Dame and received an MBA degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He lives in Potomac, Maryland with his wife Diane. They have five children and seven grandchildren.
