Executive experience: Wick Moorman retired from Norfolk Southern in 215 as chairman, president and CEO. He spent nearly four decades at the company and its predecessor Southern Railway. In 216, the Amtrak Board of Directors appointed Wick president and chief executive officer. He was the tenth executive to lead America’s Railroad since the company began its operations in 1971. He served in this capacity until July 217, then becoming Co-CEO until the end of 217. He now serves as senior advisor at Amtrak.
Additional information: Wick was honored with many awards during his railroad career. In 211, Railway Age named him “Railroader of the Year,” and Progressive Railroading Magazine selected him as recipient of its Railroad Innovator Award in 213.
Wick has long been involved with numerous charitable organizations, including the Hampton Roads Community Foundation, The Nature Conservancy of Virginia, and The Chesapeake Bay Foundation. He is a member of the Smithsonian National Board and the National Academy of Engineering. Wick is a graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in civil engineering. He received his MBA from Harvard Business School. He and his wife, Bonnie, have two children, John and Marion.
