Executive experience: Sue Wagner is a co-founder and director of BlackRock, where she served as vice chairman and a member of the Global Executive and Operating Committees before retiring in 212. Over the course of her nearly 25 years at the firm, Sue served as Chief Operating Officer, head of Strategy and Corporate Development, and started and ran the Alternative Investments and International client businesses. She also co-founded and chaired BlackRock’s Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) and sponsored the Women’s Leadership Forum.

Throughout her tenure at BlackRock, Sue led strategy development and coordinated the firm’s strategic initiatives, including BlackRock’s mergers with PNC, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, and Barclays Global Investors, joint ventures in Japan, China and India, the firm’s initial public offering, and the launch of BlackRock Solutions.

Prior to founding BlackRock, Sue was a vice president in the Mortgage Finance Group at Lehman Brothers, where her innovative work with clients was cited as “Deal of the Month” (November 1986) and “Deal of the Year” (January 1987) by Investment Dealers’ Digest.
