Steve Varley

As EY global vice chair – sustainability, Steve helps EY clients accelerate their adoption of new technologies and business models to create environmentally sustainable, long-term value. He also leads overall environmental sustainability strategy across the global EY organization, helping to drive progress toward and beyond carbon neutrality.

Steve has three decades of professional services experience, including nine as EY UK&I regional managing partner and chair of Ernst & Young LLP (EY UK).

Steve is the UK government’s business ambassador for professional services and a member of HM treasury’s professional services council. He is also a member of the UK board of the International Chamber of Commerce and has attended the Prime Minister’s business advisory council.

Steve is a founding member of the social business trust, a member of the International Chamber of Commerce governing body and a member of the productivity leadership group. Having earned a BEng at Loughborough University, he is now on its board.
