Sara Grootwassink Lewis

Over the past 17 years, Sara Grootwassink Lewis has served on the board of directors of 8 public companies and has held numerous board leadership positions including Presiding Director. 

Sara serves on the Board of Weyerhaeuser (NYSE:WY), S&P 5, the world’s largest timber, land and forest products company, with revenue of $7.5 billion and with 11 million acres of timberlands harvested on a sustainable basis. Sara is chair of the audit committee.

Sara serves on the board of Freeport-McMoRan (NYSE:FCX), a Fortune 15 international mining company. Our portfolio includes the Grasberg minerals district in Indonesia, one of the world’s largest copper and gold deposits. Other significant mining operations include the Morenci minerals district in North America and the Cerro Verde in South America.

Sara serves on the Board of Healthpeak Properties (NYSE:PEAK), an S&P 5 company. Healthpeak owns and develops high-quality Life Science and Medical Office real estate in the US. Sara is chair of the compensation and human capital committee and serves on the nominating and corporate governance committee.

Sara serves on the board of Everside Health and is chair of the audit committee. Everside Health is one of the largest direct primary care providers in the US, operating 34+ health clinics in 33 states.

Sara is a member of the board of trustees and executive committee of the Brookings Institution. She is chair of the governance studies leadership council, vice chair of the audit committee, and serves on the investment committee and the budget and finance committee.

Sara serves on the leadership board of the US Chamber of Commerce Center for Capital Markets Competitiveness, advancing America’s global leadership in capital formation by supporting diverse capital markets that are the most fair, transparent, efficient, and innovative in the world.

Sara served on the board of Sun Life Financial (TSX:SLF) (NYSE:SLF), a global financial services company with $36 billion in revenue and $1 trillion in assets under management, with offices in Canada, the United States, the UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, India, China, Australia, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia and Bermuda. She was chair of the audit committee, designated financial expert and a member of the governance, nominating and investment committee.

Sara, the retired EVP, and chief financial officer of Washington Real Estate Investment Trust (NYSE: WRE), holds the chartered financial analyst designation and is a registered certified public accountant.
