Executive experience:René was finance director of Anglo American from September 2005 to April 2017 and retired from the company in January 2018, after more than 12 years. From June 2000 to May 2005 he was group finance director of The BOC Group. Until June 2012, he was a non-executive director of SSE plc and until December 2017 he was a non-executive director of De Beers and Anglo Platinum Limited. Following the delisting of their securities from the London Stock Exchange in January 2020, René stepped down as a non-executive director of Cobham.
