Mike Verbeck

Michael D. (Mike) Verbeck serves real estate industry clients that have included the following: Irvine Company, American Assets Trust, Inc. (AAT), Retail Opportunity Investments Corp. (ROIC), Fairfield Residential, Newland Communities, Senior Resource Group, and Fowler Properties. He also worked with AAT through its successful initial public offering.

He has significant experience with public REITS including REIT formations and IPOs, real estate entities reporting at fair value, opportunity funds, pension funds, real estate investment companies reporting under the Investment Company Guide, homebuilders and land developers, and land-banking funds. Mike was formerly a Chief Financial Officer for a medium sized homebuilding and land development company. Mike is an active member of Ernst & Young’s REIT, Opportunity Fund and Homebuilder practice groups.

In Mike’s assurance managing partner role, he is responsible for leading EY’s assurance practice in the firm’s West Region.

Mike earned a bachelor of science from the University of Southern California. He is actively involved in the University of San Diego Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate, Executive Committee. Mike is a CPA and member of the American and California Institutes of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts.
