Executive Experience: Mary Choksi was a founding partner of the Strategic Investment Group, an investment management group founded in 1987, which designs and implements global investment strategies for large institutional and individual investors. Mary was a senior managing director at Strategic until its sale in 2012, by which time the firm had grown to oversee approximately $38 billion in assets under management and remained a senior advisor at the firm through 2016. In addition to her responsibilities for Strategic, Mary was a founding partner of Emerging Markets Management LLC (EMM) and served as a managing director of the firm from its inception in 1987 until its sale in May 2011. Prior to the establishment of Strategic and EMM, Mary worked in the Pension Investment Division of the World Bank, which was responsible for investing in the institution’s pension plan. Before joining the Bank’s finance complex, she worked for nine years in the development arm of the Bank, working on development projects in South and Southeast Asia.

Additional information: Mary is an independent director of the Franklin and Templeton series of mutual funds. In addition, she is a Trustee of the Hattie M. Strong Foundation, and of Washington & Lee University. She was previously a Trustee/Board Member of the Beauvoir School, the St. Albans School for Boys, the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

Mary completed her master’s and all requirements for a Ph.D. except dissertation in international relations at the Johns Hopkins University, along with a master’s in public affairs from the University of Minnesota. She completed her bachelor’s in French at the University of Minnesota.
