Kristina Sung Kepner is senior vice president & deputy general counsel, corporate & strategic transactions at United Natural Foods, Inc., the largest publicly-traded distributor of natural, organic, specialty, produce and conventional grocery and non-food products in the United States and Canada with $27 billion in revenue (NYSE: UNFI). In this role, Kristina is responsible for leading a multi-geographic team in connection with supporting all commercial contracts, mergers & acquisitions, debt/finance transactions, intellectual property portfolio, and leading the company’s enterprise risk management program. Kristina has also been appointed to serve on the UNFI benefit plans investment committee and information security steering committee. As a member of the general counsel senior leadership team she sets the legal department’s strategy and provides governance for the legal team’s professional development programs.

Prior to joining UNFI in 219, Kristina was vice president and general counsel, corporate development at Johnson Controls International plc. In this role she was responsible for leading a global team in executing the company’s mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and equity investments for the company’s corporate development organization and corporate venture group. Kristina also had a dual role as head of the corporate & entity management for the Americas where she was responsible for leading a team in corporate compliance maintenance of over 2 subsidiaries in the US, Canada, and Latin America.

Prior to joining Johnson Controls in 214, Kristina was vice president & associate general counsel, M&A with Cardinal Health, Inc. She began her law career at Taft, Stettinius & Hollister and Squire Patton Boggs in the corporate transactions group.
Kristina served on the emerging leaders council of the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County and has served on the boards of the Vision Center, a United Way organization, and the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Central Ohio. She is also a founding member of the Asian Pacific American Network, an employee resource group at Cardinal Health.

Kristina received her BA with honors in political science and a minor in Japanese from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and her JD from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
