Jay Morse

John B. (Jay) Morse, Jr. retired from The Washington Post Company where, for 19 years, he was the senior vice president – finance and the chief financial officer with corporate responsibility for technology, investor relations, treasury, and investment functions as well as accounting, tax, internal audit, and company-wide shared services. He also served as president of Washington Post Telecommunications, Inc. and Washington Post Productions, Inc.

Prior to joining The Washington Post Company, Jay was a partner at Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers), an international accounting firm, where he worked with publishing/media companies and multilateral lending institutions for more than 17 years. In the course of his work there, he traveled extensively for clients, both in the United States and overseas and spent one year on assignment in the London office. He also spent two years in the US Army.

Jay serves as a director of two public companies: Host Hotels and Resorts (NYSE:HST) where he is a member of the audit committee and governance committee and AES Corporation (NYSE:AES) where is chair and lead independent director. Prior to become chair, he served on the finance committee and chaired the audit committee. In addition, he is a director of Greater Naples Leadership and a former director of Crestline Capital Corporation and of the Northern Virginia Technology Council.

A CPA, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Financial Executives Institute where for 15 years he served on the Committee on Corporate Reporting. In addition, he is a former member of the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Committee (FASAC) and a past chair of the Conference Board’s US Council of Financial Executives.

Jay holds degrees from the University of Virginia (BA – history) and of the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania (MBA – industrial relations and accounting).
