Executive experience: Fritz served as chairman and CEO of Suncoke Energy, the largest US independent producer of metallurgical coke for the steel industry, from December 21 until his retirement in December 217. From January 213 through December 217, he was also chairman and CEO of Suncoke Energy Partners GP, the general partner of Suncoke Energy Partners, a publicly traded master limited partnership. He previously served as a senior vice president of Sunoco from September 21 until the completion of the Suncoke Energy initial public offering and separation from Sunoco in July 211. Prior to Suncoke and Sunoco, Fritz served as president and CEO of General Motors from March 29 until December 29. He held a number of other senior management positions during his more than 25 years with General Motors, including president and chief operating officer from March 28 until March 29, vice chairman and chief financial officer from January 26 until February 28, chairman of GM Europe, president of GM Asia Pacific and president of GM Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, and consultant for GM from February 21 to September 21 before joining Sunoco. Fritz also served as a consultant for AlixPartners, a business consulting firm, from March 21 until August 21. Fritz is a principal at the Hawksbill Group, a business advisory/consulting firm. Early in his career, Fritz worked for PwC as a CPA.
Additional information: Fritz is a trustee of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and previously served on the board of directors of Compuware Corporation from 211 to 214. Fritz was awarded a BBA degree from the University of Michigan with High Distinction (May 198) and an MBA from the Harvard Business School with High Distinction (June 1984), where he was elected a George F. Baker Scholar.
