Francis Hyatt is the executive vice president and chief sustainability officer at Liberty Mutual, where he leads environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives across the global enterprise.

Liberty Mutual established the role in 219 to reinforce its commitment to social responsibility, making environmentally conscious decisions and upholding the highest standards in corporate governance. In demonstrating Liberty’s core belief that progress happens when people feel secure, Francis’ work amplifies the conviction that insurance is a socially responsible product, delivering security to people and businesses.

In his 28 years at Liberty, Francis has helped shape a wide range of leadership and workforce strategies. Most recently, he led the enterprise talent practices organization, where he was responsible for the global talent and total rewards strategies for the company. Throughout his time at Liberty, Francis has spearheaded key strategic initiatives, including creating the business case to hire Liberty’s first chief diversity & inclusion officer, that have uniquely positioned him to lead Liberty Mutual’s ESG efforts.

Francis holds a juris doctorate from Suffolk University Law School and a bachelor’s degree in business from Bentley University. He serves on the board of directors of Boston Healthcare for the Homeless, Nobody’s Children in Windham, New Hampshire, he’s a member of the Massachusetts Bar and he is a member of the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship’s professional services sustainability roundtable.
