Executive experience: Charles is the former executive vice president and chief financial officer for Walmart, where he served from November 2010 to December 2015 and as executive vice president between January 1, 2016 and January 31, 2016. Charles previously served as executive vice president, finance and treasurer of Walmart from 2007 to November 2010. From December 2005 through December 2006, he served as senior vice president. Prior to that, Charles was senior vice president and controller from 2003 to 2005. Charles served various roles in Wal-Mart International from 1994 through 2002.

Before joining Walmart, Charles worked for Tandy Corporation as managing director for its European Memorex consumer product division and served as director international finance and accounting. He also spent more than ten years with EY.
