Bob Stein

Bob currently serves as audit committee chair on the boards of Talcott Financial Group and Kwh Analytics. Bob has previously served on other insurance company boards including Assurant, Aviva, and Resolution Life. 

Bob has over 45 years of experience advising the insurance industry on strategic, financial and operating challenges. His industry experience includes addressing a broad range of issues facing the life, non-life, and health insurance sectors. Bob has designed and implemented risk measurement methods and practices for supporting economic capital, enterprise risk management (ERM), and Solvency II initiatives; identified appropriate candidates, assessed values, and priced acquisitions; and assisted in the audits of major insurers’ financial statements.

His management experience includes building EY’s global actuarial practice from his start as the first actuary hired by EY, to leading the firm’s global financial services practice. In these roles he was responsible for the development and execution of the business strategies supporting the growth of these important EY businesses in insurance, banking and capital markets, and asset management.

Bob has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Drake University. He is a certified public account, a fellow of the Society of Actuaries, and a trustee emeritus of the Actuarial Foundation.
