Anna Sweeney

Anna Sweeney is Executive Director at the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) of the Bank of England, co-leading the Insurance Directorate with Charlotte Gerken. Anna is responsible for the supervision of the UK’s general insurance sector, including the Society of Lloyd’s. She is also leading a strategic review of the PRA and its target operating model.
The PRA’s approach to insurance supervision seeks to deliver its statutory objectives to promote the safety and soundness of the firms it regulates, and contribute to the securing of an appropriate degree of protection for those who are or may become policyholders.
Anna was previously the Director of Insurance Supervision (217-219). She is an experienced insurance and banking regulator who has led the supervision of a number of the largest banks and insurers.
