Alastair Barbour

Alastair Barbour is a chartered accountant with 25 years of experience as a partner with KPMG in the United Kingdom and Bermuda auditing and advising boards and management of public companies and groups in the UK and internationally, principally in the financial services industry.

His strengths include being able to differentiate between strategic and operational matters, to prioritize and deal with complex issues, and to communicate them effectively to non-financial professionals.  Alastair is also effective at building and managing relationships at all levels.

Since retiring from the profession in 211, he has worked as a non-executive director with a variety of groups in the financial services industry. In insurance, he is currently the chair of Phoenix Group Holdings plc, having previously served as the audit committee chair and a director of RSA Insurance. Other current appointments include lead independent director and audit committee chair for The Bank of N.T. Butterfield, listed on the NYSE, and chair of Liontrust Asset Management plc.

Alastair has a bachelor of science in biochemistry from the University of Edinburgh and is a fellow of the Institute of Charted Accountants in England and Wales.

He is married with two children and is a Scottish citizen.
